Richard Chappell is an experienced CEO within the Facilities Management industry, with a proven track record of successfully transforming and growing businesses in the highly competitive market of Business Support Services. Richard has helped businesses deliver consistent and sustainable profit by increasing and leading strategic sales and providing innovative solutions to customers, while remaining cost-efficient. Richard has experience in M&A, designing and launching new revenue streams and has experience in Chairman and Non-Exec roles.
Richard currently sits on four Boards, one as Chair and three as NED. He acts as a consultant for other businesses. He operates in the FM, housing, technology, leisure, recruitment and employee engagement fields.
During the last 25 years Richard has worked for a large corporate AIM listed group where he was responsible for running their support services business. The business had six different stand-alone businesses which Richard turned into a single cohesive entity with a strong culture and brand embracing a go-to-market proposition with a £90 million turnover.
Richard then moved to run a family-owned business as their CEO, taking the company on a journey from a single-client focus with £50 million turnover, to a multi-client £90 million business, minimising business risk and maximising profit.
Most recently, Richard spent three years owning, running and growing a London centric cleaning business with a £7 million turnover which he sold to the minority shareholders in May 2020.
Richard is now focused on growing JLW Consulting Ltd which he founded. JLW Consulting Ltd is an independently owned consultancy business, offering a range of different services to clients large and small throughout the UK. Richard is self-assured and determined, whilst maintaining a thoughtful approach on how to make the best decisions for every situation. He believes in being factual and credible in getting to the heart of the matter, and putting what has been learnt into practice. A strong drive to achieve, tempered with a focus on facts and data to ensure winning is the result. Richard’s key skills are that he knows how to run and manage teams to create a one team culture, how to drive an agenda of growth and how to develop client relationships. He has a significant network of relationships and has experience of integrating acquisitions successfully without impacting the organic growth agenda or changing the businesses culture.
